Upcoming Programs

MAY 2024

A note on BWC Events and our Guest Policies:

BWC hosts many community events where we open our doors often and freely to support our commitment to bringing educational, civic-minded programming that benefits our whole community. Examples include  Sheriff Corpus, the panel on Climate Action, and the League of Women Voters at election time.

For our member events, such as our General Meetings, member happy hours, Mah Jong, and monthly book clubs, we encourage our members to invite guests to attend so they can experience the club. However, we want to set the expectation that if a guest comes to more than two events, we expect them to commit to joining, as that is only fair to our paying members.

Thank you for your understanding!

Sundays

NEW PROGRAM!! Weekly Mah Jong comes to BWC
4 pm

We host Mah Jong almost every Sunday. Beginners are welcome; there will be a teaching table for Classic Chinese Mah Jong most weeks. Other types of Mah Jong are welcome at different tables (American/Jewish/Hong Kong, etc.). This is a friendly game, but attendance matters, as we rely on you to fill your seat. MJ can be played with 3 or 4 people, so there is some flexibility, but do come if you sign up.

Food/drinks: Please bring a nibble or drink to share.

If you have questions, email Jackie Sage at [email protected].

This event is for members and their invited guests.

To sign up weekly, please use this Google Doc.  We need a good count so that we can form the right teams. Note: if you are a beginner and the slots look full, please still sign up and make a notation that you are a beginner. The leaders will arrange the right teams.

7:00 -8:30 pm

Invite your friends and neighbors to this fun and so-needed night of musical humor and healing.

Karen Drucker & Lauren Mayer are both entertainers, songwriters and speakers with decades of experience delighting audiences and fans. Karen has released 20 best-selling albums of inspirational music, performed at events and retreats nationwide, and been a keynote speaker at healthcare conferences. Lauren is an award-winning cabaret performer who creates a topical comedy song every week (generating thousands of views and almost as many trolls) and a prolific musical theater composer on the faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. As “Drucker & Mayer” they’ve performed hit shows at nightclubs and theaters, as well as creating customized comedy shows for clients ranging from Hewlett-Packard and Bank of America to the Nat’l Conference of Funeral Directors – as one client put it, “People are still talking about you two – all with smiles on their faces!”

the Yangzi River Valley states were highly advanced cultures with luxurious
tastes, imaginative styles, and a yearning for immortality.
